Good points: Affordably priced Comes with the minimum basic features you would expect in an elliptical Equipped with fans A very plain looking barebones elliptical Durability is questionable Comments: OK features with OK quality for an OK price. At, no matter how hard you look, the quality is just going to be average at best. But then again, really isn’t a lot of money so we can’t be expecting the sky. If you can afford it, go up a price class. The quality is much better and for a few hundred dollars more, you’re going to be saving yourself a lot of headaches. Much better to save yourself some headaches than a few hundred bucks if you think about it.

Good points: it is extremely rare to see Proform offer more than a 1 year parts and labor warranty especially for a Elliptical under (free 1 year extended warranty brings the Elliptical to two years parts and labor) goes all the way to 12 mph and 12% incline an extremely generous 28 workout programs console is nicely designed allows iPod docking so you can listen to music through the Elliptical’s speakers higher than normal weight capacity at 325lbs decent sized belt for a Elliptical at this price another unusual feature in being able to keep track of your workout stats through the iFit fitness journal spacesaver design indicates it’s foldable even though they programmed the Boston Marathon onto this Elliptical, you probably won’t want to be doing it a whole lot unless you want it to die an early death (if you’re training for a marathon, you probably need a real commercial Elliptical) free extended warranty might not be available by the time you read this so you might be back at 1 years parts and labor which is still better than what you typically expect from Proform no fans Comments: The Proform 400 Distance trainer Elliptical comes with a boatload of features and impressive paper specs that you normally wouldn’t find in a Elliptical for. One of the first things that really stood out for me was the free extended warranty that this Elliptical came with. In the past, I have seen Proform market their Ellipticals in the zone with warranties as short as 90 days. This changed later to one year parts as they improved their quality. The 1 year warranty is still in fact, what the default warranty is for most of their Ellipticals. But for the Proform 400 Distance trainer, you’re getting a free 1 year extended warranty, not just for parts but also for labor. So what you end up with is a 2 year parts and labor warranty which is something that I haven’t seen ever from Proform. If the length of the warranty is any indication of the confidence the manufacturer has in their products, this 2 year warranty is truly symbolic. The second thing that stood out is the impressive array of features found on this Elliptical. For example, there are 28 programs on this Elliptical which is impressive even by Proform’s standards. You also have a very clean and neat console that you can see on the Proform website. Next, both the max speed and incline goes all the way up to 12 mph and 12% respectively although I would strongly caution you against actually going up to 12 mph or even 10 mph for that matter for fear of the Elliptical breaking down prematurely. You can also plug in your iPod and have music played back to you through the two speakers integrated on the Elliptical. Finally, you have an iLog Fitness journal which keeps track of your total workout stats over the course of days, weeks and years. The Proform 400 Distance Trainer Elliptical is one of those hidden gems where if you haven’t been carefully scrutinizing and comparing every little feature of every Elliptical currently offered by Proform, Epic, Healthrider and Nordictrack, you wouldn’t have nearly as much appreciation of just how much this Elliptical offers for the price. Although this Elliptical is by no means recommended for the hardcore users who intend to run, run and run, it IS recommended for those regular folks that want the perfect balance of features, quality and price. With a computerized fitness logging system, you can easily monitor your workout progress using the Proform 400 Distance Trainer Elliptical. The iLOG Fitness Journal allows you to generate daily, weekly, monthly and yearly fitness reports. This way you can easily track your progress and allows you to easily access specific workout stats for up to 2 users. Not only does it give you an outstanding workout but you can also combine entertainment with your daily exercise. It features a Universal iPod Dock with built-in speakers so you can rock through any work out ad you play your favorite music through the 2 high quality speakers. Other special features include 28 workout programs that you can follow and a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon program. It also comes with the ProResponse Impact-Reducing Cushioning that lets you have a comfortable run by reducing the stress on your ankles, knees and hips. The QuickSpeed buttons instantly adjust the speed from 0-12 mph. it also has a one touch Power Incline from 0-12% and a Dual Grip EKG Heart Rate Monitor that allows you to stay in your target heart rate range by glancing at the console window during your fitness workout.
